Michael Sarver was voted off American Idol last night. For the second week in a row he was in the bottom 2. Last week he was in the bottom 2 however, it was Alexis Grace who was voted off the show. This week Michael Sarver and Matt Giraud were in the bottom 2. This time Michael was sent home.
Michael Sarver was allowed a second chance to sing “The Temptations - Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” hoping that the judges would overrule the votes of viewers. However, after the judges confered Simon Cowell said, “Michael, you’re going home. Sorry.”
So, we are down to 9 contestants and the competition is heating up. The nine remaining contestants on American Idol Season 8 are, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Corkrey and Scott MacIntyre.
It was Motown Night last night on American Idol. Each contestant had to pick a song from the Motown era for this weeks show. There were 2 special guests this week, Berry Goody who is the founder of Motown records and a legend in the Motown music seen. The second guest was Smokey Robinson who help the contestants get ready for the show. Once again Danny Gokey put on a great show. Danny Gokey sang ‘The Temptations - Get Ready’. It wasn’t his best performance, but it was really good. I have not seen any evidence that Danny can do bad performances. He is a really talented singer, and his passion for music shines through everytime he steps on stage.

Here is what the judges had to say about it:
Paul Abdul said, “We have to move fast so I’m gonna say this really quickly. You are an undeniable, identifiable and you’re always reliable on giving us a first class performance every week.”
“I’m also going to keep a quick. We know you’re good singer, but I thought that was clumsy and amateurish.”
Randy Jackson said, “To me you remind me of the great Levi Stubbs, the great ahhh… All of these great singers. Let me tell you something, you’ve got definitely a dope voice, it wasn’t your best performance, but I loved the energy and just the feeling of it.”
Kara DioGuardi said, “I loved your personality tonight. I thought it was good, not great, but I’m still a huge Danny fan.”
Great Job Danny.

Last night on American Idol the theme was Country night. Danny Gokey sang Carrie Underwood - Jesus Take The Wheel. Once again Danny was outstanding. Randy Travis was the special guest who helped the singers with rehearsing for their performance. I have to admit I was a little bit nervous for Gokey this week. I just wasn’t sure how he would handle the country theme, but he was great!
Randy Travis gave an incredible compliment when he was asked about Danny Gokey. He said, “Danny has a soulfulness that most of us in the business wished we had.” That quite a compliment coming from a country legend.

Here is what the judges had to say:
Kara DioGuardi said, “You know Danny. When you hit your stride it’s like none other. The front half of that performance for me was not spectacular, but halfway through it was like here comes Danny. Denny’s coming out of the shell, and I wish I had 10 minutes of that and not the front half. Because really when you get up there and you hit the powerful notes it’s a connection unlike anything. So when you pick those songs be careful that you’re picking them in that range.”
Paul Abdul said, “I disagree, in the sense that I like it when artist build a thing of the story (incoherent ramblings), I think you were brilliant. So much so that I think Carrie underwood would not only approve but she would go and buy the album.”
Simon Cowell said, “I don’t think she would rush out to buy it, but but I do actually agree with Paula. You don’t start that song full on you’ve Gotta have a little light… My only problem Danny is which are wearing. Like you’re going on some polar expedition and its 80° in Los Angeles today.”
Randy Jackson said, “Danny, I actually today agree with Kara. The problem with you is the verses, if the rest of the song, dude you blazed, it was crazy, right up the verses you Gotta support those. The vs. we’re a little pitchy, just support ‘em better. That your great singer you know what I’m saying?”
Here is what the other contestants sang:

Jasmine Murray + Jorge Nunez Voted Off American Idol
Author: alittleprayer // Category: UncategorizedLast night we received the results show from the first night of singing (Top 13). No surprise at all that Danny Gokey is safe. There is no way that he would be voted off American Idol at this point. Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez were voted off the show. Jasmine Murray sang “I’ll Be There” and Jorge Nunez sang “Never Gonna Say Goodbye”. Neither performance was great, but neither was that bad either. There is a very talented group of singers on American Idol this year.
The show featured an appearance by Kelly Clarkson, and she sang her new single “my life would suck without you”. There was also a fun performance by all of the American Idol contestants singing a mix of Michael Jackson and Jackson 5 songs. Don’t forget that this week’s theme was Michael Jackson.
Great Job Gokey! Can’t wait to see what you do next week.
Once again Danny Gokey steps up his game. He is such a great performer. Last night was the first theme night on American Idol Season 8, and the theme was Michael Jackson. Contestants had to sing a Micheal Jackson or Jackson 5 song. Danny Gokey sang “PYT (Pretty Young Thing).
There is no way that Gokey will be voted off tonight. He is simply too good. It was kind of funny to see Danny do a little dancing while singing for the first time. He is not a good dancer, but Randy was right it was great because it was very passionate. I really liked it.
Simon and Kara had a little back and forth after Cowell made his comments. Kara said, “Danny to pick that song and nail it. That was great!” Simon jumped in with, “I like you. I’m just not buying the hype right now”. There was a really nice video of Danny’s family in Wisconsin before Danny sang. It gave us some good insight into why he has so much talent. When he was a child his parents would have songs for everything to make it fun. His Dad would take out his guitar and make up a song for bed time, time to learn something etc. Looks like Danny comes from a great family. When Gokey was receiving Simon’s comments about his dancing Danny asked if he could say something then he said, “I feel that I love to dance, and I love to sing, but when I put them together it’s really difficult. I told the producer can we please get an instructor to help us.” We loved it Danny, don’t worry. After Danny Gokey received his great comments Ryan Seacrest asked Danny if he was going to ditch the dance moves. Danny replied, “No I don’t want to. You know I’ve been raised on church music my whole life. I love church music. I never want part from it. And experience dancing and adding all that other stuff together, but I wanna get it. I’m gonna keep trying.” Here are the other Micheal Jackson - Jackson 5 songs that the contestants sang: Lil Rounds - The Way You Make Me Feel
Now that we know that there will be a Top 13 and not a Top 12 we have a question for you: Danny Gokey answered 10 questions on American Idol Homepage. Here they are: 1. Question: If you couldn’t sing, which talent would you most like to have? 2. Question: What’s your proudest moment? 3. Question: What’s your most embarrassing moment? 4. Question: Do you have any rituals or things you do before you perform? 5. Question: What album would your friends be surprised you own? 6. Question: What are your personal goals in life? 7. Question: If you don’t make it on American Idol, what will you do? 8. Question: What other talents do you have? 9. Question: Do you have any formal singing training? 10. Question: When did you first start to sing? So, we now have a Top 13 instead of a Top 12 for this year’s American Idol. This should be a very exciting season. The are many great singers and the competition will be very strong. Good luck Gokey. So here they are: 01. Matt Giraud What a crazy Wildcard show last night. There was more than enough drama, surprises and shocks to fill many shows. Tatiana Del Toro developed a Spanish accent over night, the Top 12 became the Top 13, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell were at it through most of the show and the results were given immediately at the end of the show. 8 people: Von Smith, Jasmine Murray, Ricky Braddy, Megan Corkrey, Tatiana Del Toro, Matt Giraud, Jesse Langseth and Anoop Desai all sang for the final 3 positions on this years American Idol. There were many very good performances. Oddly enough after the notorious drama queen Tatiana Del Toro sang she was speaking to the judges with a Spanish accent which she never had before???? I believe this girl might actually be insane. Paula Abdul actually called her on it. Paula interupted Tatiana while she was talking and said, ‘you seemed to have developed a accent I haven’t heard before’. Tatiana’s explanation was that when she is emotional and stressed she thinks in Spanish so she ends up with an accent?? She actually said that. What is kind of funny is that after Paula called her on it her accent actually got stronger. It appears that she is the only person in the world who speaks more than one language that suffers from this rare condition. Anyone else either has an accent or they don’t. Odd girl. We are happy to say that she did not make it out of the Wildcard Round. Paula seemed a little more disturbed by Simon Cowell than normal. At one point she appeared to be getting a little physical with Simon. She was trying to twist is arm while Simon was talking. Now for the biggest surprise of the show. After most of the contestants had received the decision from the judges and only Jasmine Murray and Megan Corkrey were told that they were through. Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud were brought up in front of the judges for the final spot in the Top 12. Matt Giraud was told that he was through. Anoop gave Matt a hug to say congratulations. Anoop was just started to walk off stage and Simon stopped him and said that he just wanted to tell him something on behalf of all the judges. Simon told him that American Idol decided to do a Top 13 and that he was through as well. It really was a dramatic show! Now we can finally get down to business and see Danny Gokey sing again. Can’t wait!
